DefendDomain compared to ZeroFox
ZeroFox is an enterprise external cybersecurity platform covering social media, the dark web, app stores, executive protection and external attack surface management alongside domains.
We call you within one working day. Or book a 30-minute demo: enough for us to give you a clear annual price for your domains.
ZeroFox at a glance
ZeroFox is an enterprise external cybersecurity platform, and one of the names most often used as shorthand for the whole Digital Risk Protection (DRP) category.
If your mandate genuinely covers executive protection and dark web monitoring as well as domains, ZeroFox is built for that brief. DefendDomain covers lookalike domains and copies of your website only, for a buyer whose brief is narrower than that.

DefendDomain and ZeroFox, side by side
The short version, before the case for either of us. Every claim in the ZeroFox column comes from their own published material.
What the product is built around
DefendDomain
Finding web addresses made to look like yours and getting them taken down: lookalike domains, new certificates, copies of your website and of your wording, plus a daily check of your own domains
ZeroFox
External cybersecurity across domains, social media, dark web, app stores, executives and attack surface management
Lookalike domains that never host a website
DefendDomain
We check the email set-up (MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC records) of every registered lookalike. When one is set up to send email, we flag it, even if it has no website
ZeroFox
Domain protection including typosquatting and lookalike detection is published. Checking a lookalike's email set-up (MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC records) and flagging when it can send email is not listed in their public material as of September 2026
When someone copies your website
DefendDomain
The optional website marker (a small script or a 1×1 image on the pages you choose) reports when a copy of a page loads somewhere else, and we search the web for distinctive phrases from your site
ZeroFox
Brand and content monitoring for unauthorised use is published. A website marker on your pages, and web searches for your wording, are not listed in their public material as of September 2026
Takedowns
DefendDomain
Unlimited on Pro and Enterprise. One click sends the evidence to up to 12 places at once, with automatic follow-ups to the host, registrar and registry
ZeroFox
Automated takedowns through a large disruption network. Their published bundles carry annual takedown allotments, with additional takedowns available as a paid add-on
Your own domains
DefendDomain
A daily check of your own domains (email security, DNS and takeover risk, certificates, website settings, exposed files), graded A to F, with a fix for each finding
ZeroFox
Attack surface intelligence and asset discovery find your exposed assets. That is discovery rather than a daily graded scorecard across email authentication, DNS hygiene and takeover risk, TLS, web hardening and exposure
How you buy it
DefendDomain
Pro: an annual plan priced by the number of domains you protect, where you approve each takedown. Enterprise: priced to your needs, with our analysts running the takedowns
ZeroFox
Enterprise bundles plus modular add-ons, sales-led. Pricing is quote only and no price list is published
Comparison based on ZeroFox's own public product material as of September 2026. ZeroFox does not publish a price list, so the annual cost shown is estimated from buyer-reported and analyst sources rather than quoted by ZeroFox. Vendors change their products, so check anything that matters to you against their current documentation and your own quote. ZeroFox is a trademark of its owner. The facts your vendor review will ask for
About DefendDomain only. Check the same points with any vendor on your shortlist.
- What we check
- Around 500 lookalikes of each of your domains across 240+ domain endings, re-checked every hour. 100+ public certificate logs, watched as entries appear. Copies of your website and of your wording. Your own domains, checked daily and graded A to F.
- Where a takedown goes
- One click sends the evidence to up to 12 places at once: the registrar, the host, the email provider the domain sends through, an abuse-report network, blocklists and threat feeds, browser warning lists and search engines. Not every place applies to every attack: a domain with no website has nothing for a search engine to remove.
- Follow-up
- Automatic. We chase the host and registrar again at 48 and 96 hours, go to the registry at 120 and 168 hours, and tell you if nothing has moved after 30 days. Most takedowns take between 2 and 96 hours.
- Who approves a takedown
- On Pro, someone on your side confirms it is a live attack and approves it with one click. On Enterprise, our analysts check every alert and run the takedowns. Takedowns are unlimited on both.
- Alerts
- Email, Slack, Microsoft Teams, SMS, webhook, Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel and Wazuh.
- Security and data
- ISO 27001 certified (certificate 535732026) and Cyber Essentials certified. UK GDPR and EU GDPR. Our main database is hosted in London (AWS eu-west-2).
- Which plan suits whom
- Pro suits companies that approve takedowns themselves. Enterprise covers unlimited domains and brands, run by our analysts.
- Price and contract
- Pro is an annual plan with 5 domains included, priced by the number of domains you protect. Enterprise is priced to your needs. Both are annual: a 12-month minimum, renewing each year unless you give 30 days' notice. We do not publish the Pro price yet.
We call you within one working day to talk it through.

What ZeroFox does well, and who should buy them
Taken from what ZeroFox publishes about its own product. If this is the shape of your problem, they are a reasonable buy and we will say so.
The widest mandate in the category
Their published platform spans intelligence, asset discovery, protection and disruption across seven or more threat surfaces. For a security team whose remit genuinely covers all of them, a single platform is a defensible answer.
Dark web and threat intelligence depth
Curated feeds, threat actor tracking and dark web monitoring are core to what they publish. That is a different discipline from domain monitoring, it takes real investment, and we do not do it.
Executive and physical protection
Protecting named individuals across digital and physical surfaces is its own module on their platform. If your board has asked about executive risk specifically, that is a real capability and it is not one of ours.
Integration estate
They publish a large integration catalogue across SIEM, SOAR and ticketing. In a mature SOC with established tooling, that reduces the work of adopting anything new.
Where DefendDomain goes deeper
We work on one problem: web addresses made to look like yours, and copies of your website. We find them, tell you which can send email or show a copy of your site, and get them taken down when they are used against you.
A specialist, priced for a narrower job
Reported contract values for ZeroFox run from roughly $56,000 to $307,000 a year, based on buyer and analyst estimates rather than a vendor price list. That is a different kind of purchase from a plan priced by number of domains, and for many buyers the price decides it before the features do.
How often you check matters
In one case we handled, a replacement fake domain was registered and sending fraud emails 28 minutes later. That is why we re-check every lookalike every hour and watch public certificate logs as entries appear.
Unlimited takedowns, not an annual allowance
Their published bundles carry takedown allowances, counted per year, with more available as an add-on. Ours are unlimited on Pro and Enterprise. Every alert comes with screenshots of the copy and the original, who registered and hosts the domain, DNS and certificate details, and a full audit trail. One click sends it to up to 12 places at once; we check every hour whether the site is still online and follow up at 48, 96, 120 and 168 hours.
What each of us costs
Most vendors in this category do not publish a price list. This is how each of us charges.
- What ZeroFox publishes
- ZeroFox does not publish a price list. Reported annual contract values run from roughly $56,000 to $307,000, which are buyer and analyst estimates rather than a vendor quote.
- What moves the number
- At the enterprise end the number is driven by module count and by the human services wrapped around the platform, such as executive protection and analyst-led threat intelligence.
- How DefendDomain charges
- There is no module list to negotiate. Pro is an annual plan priced by the number of domains you protect, with unlimited takedowns. We do not publish the Pro price yet; ask for a pricing call and we call you within one working day.
Choose ZeroFox if
- Your mandate genuinely covers social media, the dark web, app stores, executives and attack surface management, not just domains.
- You have enterprise budget and an established SOC with the headcount to run a platform of that size.
- Curated threat intelligence feeds and threat actor tracking are part of what you are buying.
- Executive and physical protection for named individuals is a board-level requirement.
- You are buying against a board mandate that names several external risk categories at once, and one platform contract has to satisfy all of them.
Choose DefendDomain if
- Six figures a year for lookalike domain protection is not a budget you can get approved.
- Domain impersonation is the problem you have, and the rest of the suite would go unused.
- You need to know when a lookalike with no website is set up to send email. There is no page on it for an outside scanner to find.
- You want unlimited takedowns rather than an annual allowance with more sold as an add-on.
- You have little or no security team: on Pro someone on your side approves each takedown with one click, and on Enterprise our analysts run them for you.
What moving actually involves
There is no software to install and no data to move. Lookalike monitoring, certificate watching and the daily check of your own domains need only your domain names. The website marker is optional: a small script or a 1×1 image on the pages you choose.
Step 1
Separate the mandate from the tooling
Work out what you are accountable for before you compare products. A remit covering executive physical safety, dark web intelligence and external attack surface management is broader than anything we do, and at that scope the two are not substitutes. A remit centred on impersonation of the brand is a like-for-like comparison, and worth running as one.
Step 2
Price the modules you would actually turn on
Work out which parts of an enterprise suite would be live in twelve months' time. If the answer is one or two, that changes what a specialist is worth.
Step 3
Time the move to your renewal
If ZeroFox covers a mandate you still need, keep it and add the domain layer alongside. If the domain module is the only part you actually use, the clean moment to change is your renewal date. You can run both until then, because there is no agent to remove and no data to migrate out.
Questions buyers ask us about ZeroFox
Is there a cheaper alternative to ZeroFox for domain impersonation?
ZeroFox is priced for a much wider mandate: executive protection, dark web intelligence, external attack surface management and threat intelligence feeds. If you need those, a specialist does not replace it. If you only need lookalike domains watched closely, DefendDomain Pro is an annual plan priced by the number of domains you protect, with unlimited takedowns. Ask for a pricing call and compare our price with theirs.
Is DefendDomain a replacement for an enterprise digital risk platform?
Not across the whole surface, no. An enterprise suite covers social media, the dark web, app stores, executive protection and attack surface management, and we deliberately do none of those. If your mandate is that wide, buy the suite. If the fraud actually costing you money arrives through a domain that looks like yours, we go further down that one layer than a platform spreading its engineering across seven.
How does DefendDomain's price compare?
Our price depends on how many domains you protect and whether you want us to run it for you. We solve one problem rather than seven, so there is no module list, and takedowns are unlimited on Pro and Enterprise with no per-incident charge.
What happens when a lookalike domain of ours goes live?
You get an alert with the evidence already gathered, because we have been watching that domain since it was registered: screenshots of the copy next to your original, who registered and hosts it, DNS and certificate details, and the audit trail. When you approve the takedown (on Enterprise, our analysts do), one click sends it to up to 12 places at once: the abuse teams at the registrar, the host and the email provider, blocklists, browser warning lists and search engines. We check every hour whether it is still online, follow up with the host and registrar at 48 and 96 hours and with the registry at 120 and 168 hours, and tell you if nothing has moved after 30 days. Afterwards we keep watching and alert you if it comes back.
