DefendDomain compared to Red Points
Red Points is an enforcement engine built for counterfeits, piracy and unauthorised distribution at very high volume, with domain abuse as one strand among many.
We call you within one working day. Or book a 30-minute demo: enough for us to give you a clear annual price for your domains.
Red Points at a glance
Red Points is a counterfeit and intellectual property enforcement platform, overlapping Digital Risk Protection (DRP) at the edges but answering a different question.
DefendDomain is a security product for the domains criminals register to defraud your customers, your staff and your suppliers. If the brief came from legal and it is about revenue lost to knock-offs, Red Points is the better buy; the domains we chase are after payments and credentials, and that brief usually comes from security.
- Red Points is built around
- Counterfeit and IP enforcement at volume
- Typically sold to
- Mid-market to enterprise
- Typical annual cost
- Quote only, no public pricing
What Red Points does well, and who should buy them
Taken from what Red Points publishes about its own product. If this is the shape of your problem, they are a reasonable buy and we will say so.
Enforcement machinery at genuine scale
Processing listings and running removals across thousands of marketplaces is an operations problem as much as a technology one, and they have built for it. If counterfeits are your revenue leak, that machinery is the answer.
Unlimited takedowns, stated plainly
Their published pricing says you are not charged per detection and not charged per takedown, with operations run for you. Very few vendors in this category will commit to that in public, and it is the right shape for a brand team that cannot absorb the workload.
Revenue recovery and litigation support
Extending past removal into recovery and legal support is a genuinely different offering, and the right one if IP enforcement in your business is a legal function.
Where DefendDomain goes deeper
We work on one problem: web addresses made to look like yours, and copies of your website. We find them, tell you which can send email or show a copy of your site, and get them taken down when they are used against you.
Choose Red Points if
- Counterfeit listings and piracy are costing you revenue at volume.
- IP enforcement in your business runs through legal or brand rather than security.
- You need marketplace, social and paid ad enforcement as the main event.
- Revenue recovery and litigation support are part of what you want from a vendor.
- The number that matters to you is enforcement volume, thousands of listings rather than a handful of domains.
Choose DefendDomain if
- The risk is fraud against your customers, staff and suppliers rather than fake products.
- You are B2B, where marketplace counterfeits are irrelevant but invoice fraud is not.
- You want to know when a lookalike with no website is set up to send email, which a listing-enforcement engine is not built to see.
- You want your own domains' email security, DNS, certificates and website settings graded as well as watched.
- The budget for this sits with security or IT, and they want the alerts in the tools they already run.
DefendDomain and Red Points, side by side
What the product is built around
DefendDomain
Finding web addresses made to look like yours and getting them taken down: lookalike domains, new certificates, copies of your website and of your wording, plus a daily check of your own domains
Red Points
Counterfeit, piracy and IP enforcement across marketplaces, social and paid ads, with domain abuse as one strand
Lookalike domains that never host a website
DefendDomain
We check the email set-up (MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC records) of every registered lookalike. When one is set up to send email, we flag it, even if it has no website
Red Points
Fake website and domain abuse detection is published, with large domain scanning figures. Checking a lookalike's email set-up (MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC records) and flagging when it can send email is not listed in their public material as of September 2026
When someone copies your website
DefendDomain
The optional website marker (a small script or a 1×1 image on the pages you choose) reports when a copy of a page loads somewhere else, and we search the web for distinctive phrases from your site
Red Points
Detection of fake sites and infringing listings is published. A website marker on your pages, and web searches for your wording, are not listed in their public material as of September 2026
Takedowns
DefendDomain
Unlimited on Pro and Enterprise. One click sends the evidence to up to 12 places at once, with automatic follow-ups to the host, registrar and registry
Red Points
Unlimited detections and takedowns with fully managed operations, stated plainly in their published pricing material. This is a genuine strength and one of the few vendors in the category to commit to it publicly
Your own domains
DefendDomain
A daily check of your own domains (email security, DNS and takeover risk, certificates, website settings, exposed files), graded A to F, with a fix for each finding
Red Points
Not part of the published platform. The orientation is enforcement against abuse of your brand
How you buy it
DefendDomain
Pro: an annual plan priced by the number of domains you protect, where you approve each takedown. Enterprise: priced to your needs, with our analysts running the takedowns

The facts your vendor review will ask for
About DefendDomain only. Check the same points with any vendor on your shortlist.
- What we check
- Around 500 lookalikes of each of your domains across 240+ domain endings, re-checked every hour. 100+ public certificate logs, watched as entries appear. Copies of your website and of your wording. Your own domains, checked daily and graded A to F.
- Where a takedown goes
- One click sends the evidence to up to 12 places at once: the registrar, the host, the email provider the domain sends through, an abuse-report network, blocklists and threat feeds, browser warning lists and search engines. Not every place applies to every attack: a domain with no website has nothing for a search engine to remove.
- Follow-up
- Automatic. We chase the host and registrar again at 48 and 96 hours, go to the registry at 120 and 168 hours, and tell you if nothing has moved after 30 days. Most takedowns take between 2 and 96 hours.
- Who approves a takedown
- On Pro, someone on your side confirms it is a live attack and approves it with one click. On Enterprise, our analysts check every alert and run the takedowns. Takedowns are unlimited on both.
- Alerts
- Email, Slack, Microsoft Teams, SMS, webhook, Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel and Wazuh.
- Security and data
- ISO 27001 certified (certificate 535732026) and Cyber Essentials certified. UK GDPR and EU GDPR. Our main database is hosted in London (AWS eu-west-2).
- Which plan suits whom
- Pro suits companies that approve takedowns themselves. Enterprise covers unlimited domains and brands, run by our analysts.
- Price and contract
- Pro is an annual plan with 5 domains included, priced by the number of domains you protect. Enterprise is priced to your needs. Both are annual: a 12-month minimum, renewing each year unless you give 30 days' notice. We do not publish the Pro price yet.
We call you within one working day to talk it through.

What each of us costs
Most vendors in this category do not publish a price list. This is how each of us charges.
- What Red Points publishes
- Red Points does not publish a price list.
- What moves the number
- Enforcement platforms are generally sized against infringement volume and the number of marketplaces and jurisdictions in scope.
- How DefendDomain charges
- The price does not move with volume. Pro is set once a year by the number of domains you protect, and stays there however many takedowns you need. We do not publish it yet.
What moving actually involves
There is no software to install and no data to move. Lookalike monitoring, certificate watching and the daily check of your own domains need only your domain names. The website marker is optional: a small script or a 1×1 image on the pages you choose.
Step 1
Follow the brief back to the team that wrote it
Counterfeit enforcement is a legal and brand problem. Domain impersonation is a security problem. The teams, the budgets and the success measures are different, and a single platform rarely serves both well.
Step 2
Neither of us replaces the other
We do not touch marketplaces, piracy or unauthorised distribution, and we will not pretend to. If that is your exposure, Red Points is built for it and we are not.
Step 3
Check the security half is covered by somebody
If nothing in your stack is watching for domains registered to impersonate you, that gap exists whatever you do about counterfeits. The free scan will show you the size of it in a couple of minutes.
Questions buyers ask us about Red Points
Can one platform cover both counterfeits and domain impersonation?
Some platforms sell both, and if your needs on each are shallow that can work. The difficulty is that they are genuinely different disciplines: one is trademark and marketplace enforcement, usually run by legal or brand, and the other is impersonation and phishing, usually run by security. Our view is narrow on purpose. We do not do counterfeits at all. What we do instead is go deeper into lookalike domains than a platform splitting its engineering across both can afford to.
Does DefendDomain do counterfeit or marketplace enforcement?
No. Marketplace listings, counterfeit goods and piracy are deliberately out of scope, and a purpose-built enforcement platform will do them far better than we would. We cover lookalike domains, copies of your website and of your wording, new certificates for names like yours, and the set-up of your own domains.
Can we use both?
Plenty of consumer brands need to. Counterfeit enforcement and domain fraud prevention are different problems with different owners inside a business, and they rarely compete for the same budget line.
We are pricing Red Points. Where does DefendDomain sit in that budget?
As a separate line item rather than a competing quote, because the two enforce on different things. Red Points prices counterfeit and marketplace enforcement, and that kind of model commonly scales with the number of listings and removals you put through it. Ours is one annual plan for lookalike domains, priced by the number of domains you protect, with unlimited takedowns and no per-enforcement charge. Ask for a pricing call and we call you within one working day. If one budget has to cover counterfeits and impersonation domains both, price them separately, and check that neither brief has assumed the other one covers it.
What does a lookalike domain actually cost us?
The fastest cost is money leaving the company. A lookalike of a supplier's domain sends your finance team an invoice with new bank details, and it gets paid. A copy of your login page collects a member of staff's password, which can lead to account takeover. Your customers get phished with your branding, and you carry the lost business and the damage to your name.
